While we were learning about what architects do, we were exploring how to answer the questions: What do I want to do when I grow up? What can I create, invent, make, or design? How can I solve problems? First, we discussed all the different kinds of buildings and places around Doha. Then, the students had to work in groups to plan out what they would build. We talked about how architects make plans called blue prints to help the construction workers know what to build. Next, we used boxes and many different supplies to help us create Doha. We also made pasta sculptures (that I just sent home). And lastly we did an Oreo building challenge. The students had to use many different kinds of blocks to see if they could get an Oreo to balance on top. When it did, they could eat their Oreos (each child got 4). They had milk to go with the cookies so we could talk about the concept of full and empty.
